Specialist - Billing (Finance)



QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent recommended. 
  2. Minimum of two (2) years' experience in behavioral health care billing using electronic billing systems (Electronic Medical Record) – or equivalent type of medical billing.
  3. Working understanding of Accounts Receivable and related areas – invoicing, cash receipts and aging reports.
  4. Ability to type accurately (50 words per minute) utilizing computers.
  5. Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and other general computer applications.  
  6. Experience using various financial software billing applications.
  7. Must have a valid driver's license.
  8. Ability to identify with the agency Mission Statement and support the agency's Core Values.
  9. Must have acceptable PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance and FBI clearance. 

CORE COMPETENCIES:

  1. Process, on an on-going basis, weekly billing through the EMR and other means assigned billing.  Ensure timely and accurate billing.  Communicate, resolve and re-submit all problem claims notifying Accounts Receivable Supervisor when appropriate.
  2. Produce and review the A/R Aging Reports for all related billing. Review and work the aging reports on a weekly basis. Submit and/or review the aging reports on a bi-weekly basis to Accounts Receivable Supervisor. All claims in excess of 90 days past due must be accompanied by detailed explanations and action plan. Produce Gratuitous/Write Off paperwork as needed in conjunction with the Accounts Receivable Supervisor. 
  3. Research and resubmit as necessary all unpaid claims from the above referenced aging reports. Immediately notifying and communicating all appropriate program individuals of any billing related issues (encounter form, EMR related issues etc.). Utilize Google Docs for communicating problem areas. 
  4. Where appropriate check and verify eligibility (EVS) status and ensure that an authorization for services is in place for the above referenced billing. Immediately notifying and communicating all appropriate program individuals of any billing related issues (authorization, eligibility etc.). Enter all authorizations in the EMR as required.
  5. Prepare and update any assigned billing related reports (including any month end requirements, county reporting etc.).  Respond to other miscellaneous requests and correspondence related to any assigned billing areas.
  6. Ensure and assist as necessary that all Cash Receipts for the above referenced billing is entered into Accufund.
  7. Complete all clerical duties as assigned such as filing, emails, etc.
  8. Plan/direct claims management and fiscal reconciliation.
  9. Review PROMISe enrollment compliance, SSD maintenance.
  10. Support Office of Developmental Programs under Home and Community Based Services waiver compliance and provider qualification compliance. 
  11. Ensure quality management, incident management/risk management.
