What You'll Get to Do
The Shipping Lead is focused on handling the shipping line personnel as well as the shipping work flow and reports to the Regional Transportation Manager.
This role is perfect for an individual who has attention to detail (safety, quality, efficiency), strong work ethic/reliability, and is a problem solver. A vital member of the Shipping Department, this is an opportunity to build a career with an industry leader.
Job responsibilities include:
- Ensure that all personnel, prior to start of shift, are wearing the correct safety equipment and that safety awareness is maintained.
- Measure all glass for accuracy, ensuring proper reading of tags for glass selection and accuracy of shipments and quality.
- Transport of materials including glass from tables, rolling racks, delivery trucks, or wood crates for eight or more hours, daily.
- Prepare orders, such as printing glass labels, unit labels, and loading glass into trucks for delivery in the morning.
- Perform different job functions on a rotating basis.
What We Are Looking For
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate paperwork and labels.
- Ability to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements and effectively use a tape measure.
- Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule including working weekends as necessary.
- One year of previous work experience in a warehouse, manufacturing or production facility, preferred.
