Senior Mechanical Engineer (Finance)

The Senior Mechanical Engineer develops and modifies aircraft mechanical systems, oversees engineering and design work, and creates comprehensive design data packages using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks). They manage design configurations in a Product Data Manager (e.g., DbWorks) and prepare documentation such as structural analysis and risk assessment reports to ensure regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs the role of a Cognizant Engineer on projects requiring understanding of complex projects and coordination with other Stakeholders
  • Develops mechanical; design concepts and drawing packages for repairs, alteration and/or modifications to aircraft using Solidworks CAD program
  • Performs and validates structural analysis using NASTRAN or traditional hand analysis methods.
  • Mentors Engineers and Designers during complex design projects
  • Researches material and part specifications and selection through vendor, engineer and regulatory documentation
  • Assigns numbers and titles to drawings, enters into and updates master drawing list, and makes updates to drawings based on engineering change orders
  • Assists Certification Engineers and DERs in establishing Certification Plans
  • Coaches, mentors, and supports Mechanical Engineers who are assigned to lesser complexity projects

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Aeronautical Engineering with 5+ years of engineering design and/or analysis experience in aviation; or Master's degree with 3+ years of related experience
  • Experience in structural, mechanical system, propulsion system, and/or rotorcraft flight testing is required
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft structures, mechanical systems, propulsion systems, and/or rotorcraft flying qualities is highly desired
  • Working understanding of FAA certification processes, specifically 14 CFR Parts 21, 29, and 43
  • Experience working in an AS9100-accredited quality system
  • Minimum 5 years of CAD experience; SolidWorks preferred
  • Familiarity with PDM systems (e.g., DbWorks) strongly desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, DbWorks, NASTRAN, and internet-based technical research
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, proactiveness, and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Capable of resolving complex, cross-functional challenges and managing sensitive cost or execution issues
  • Must maintain strong working relationships with team members, stakeholders, and customers
  • Domestic travel required
