COMPENSATION INFORMATION

The salary ranges represent our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

  •  Transmission Services Specialist II – Salary Range: $68,600 – $85,750
  • Transmission Services Specialist III – Salary Range: $76,000 – $96,900

Join our team as a Transmission Services Specialist!

 SPP is seeking a skilled and motivated Transmission Services Specialist to play a key role in supporting and managing the Transmission Service Studies process. This role is responsible for overseeing various business and technical functions that ensure compliance with the SPP Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), and internal policies.

This position requires strong analytical skills, technical judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The Specialist II/III will regularly engage with internal teams, external stakeholders, and policy decision-makers to coordinate study activities, analyze data, and support the integrity and efficiency of SPP's Transmission Services operations.

Key Responsibilities

 Analyze and review business activities related to Transmission Service Studies process, providing guidance on compliance with SPP OATT, FERC, NERC, and other regulatory frameworks

  • Coordinate and administer transmission service requests, study agreements, billing, request for proposals, and service/interconnection agreements
  • Collaborate with SPP staff to use power system analysis tools and software to support technical studies
  • Assist in the management of the SPP transmission service queue and ensure timely acceptance and processing of study requests
  • Develop and present clear, data-driven reports for internal and external audiences, including stakeholders and member organizations
  • Provide business process documentation and propose improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
  • Foster positive, professional communication with customers, SPP members, and external stakeholders
  • Support initiatives across the Engineering and Regulatory departments as needed
  • Understand and apply governing documents such as the SPP OATT, FERC/NERC regulations, and internal planning criteria

To be successful in the role we're looking for:

  •  Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field or equivalent experience
  • Transmission Services Specialist II - Two (2) years of job-related work experience
  • Transmission Services Specialist III - Five (5) years of job-related work experience
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of data handling software such as Microsoft Office© Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

Preferred:

  • Experience in the electric utility industry, business assessment, database management systems, data analysis, and ad hoc report writing
  • Experience with decision-making in a multi-client environment

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.

Travel Requirement:

This position requires minimal travel (0-10%).
