Dynisco is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical/Materials Engineer to join our Franklin, MA team. The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering background and possess expertise in materials science with hands-on experience in laser welding, TIG welding, and materials testing. This role plays a critical part in the development and optimization of Dynisco's high-performance sensing and extrusion process products used across global industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop and implement processes, fixtures and methodologies for the development of new and existing sensor technologies.
Support manufacture of existing products by generating ECO's, documentation and BOM's for various product configurations
Evaluate and select appropriate materials for high-temperature and high-pressure applications.
Ability to interpret material mill certifications and experience with heat treatments and precipitation hardenable alloys.
Provide technical support and guidance for laser welding and TIG welding operations, including process development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
Ensure material selection and welding processes meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
Develop and maintain welding process specifications and documentation for new and existing products.
Work with production and quality teams to implement and improve welding processes and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASME, AWS).
Support R&D initiatives by exploring new materials, coatings, and joining techniques.
Use CAD tools (SolidWorks) to design test fixtures and support prototyping.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Strong knowledge of metallurgy, material properties, and joining technologies.
Demonstrated hands-on experience with laser welding and TIG welding of metals such as stainless steels, Inconel, or titanium.
Familiarity with materials testing methods (tensile, hardness, microscopy, etc.).
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in sensor or pressure transducer manufacturing.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Background in thermal analysis, corrosion testing, or surface treatments.
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time
