Clinic Practice Supervisor - Hand & Wrist (Healthcare)



Position Summary

The Clinic Practice Supervisor directs and coordinates overall operations and duties of assigned staff in accordance with Clinic Practice Manager. Works effectively with team leads and other staff within the department. Participates in the interviewing and evaluation process of each department. Communicates policies and procedures. Performs related duties and assists in the general maintenance of equipment, supplies, and exam rooms. Uses professional skills and knowledge to provide safe and effective patient care, instructions and direction to appropriate level of care for CCOC patients. Functions autonomously, proactively addressing patient needs as they progress through the continuum of care. Addresses point of service concerns by investigating issues, utilizing all areas necessary to resolve the issues with the goal of meeting the patient needs. In the absence of Management, steps up to lead the assigned clinic staff.


Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities

Performs supervisory duties, which includes assigned support staffs daily workflow, developing staff schedules, approval of time in the payroll system, participates in interviewing, hiring, and performance HMLs and annual evaluations. Delegates work in an effective manner and provides the necessary leadership to ensure work results. Manages daily department operations.


Interviews and evaluates staff. Trains and educates staff. Resolves employee issues; takes disciplinary action with assistance of Human Resources staff, when necessary. Supervises daily department operations. Trains and supervises assigned support staff in processes necessary to conduct departmental activities; identifies and implements clinic programs to clinical and secretarial support areas to create an effective patient flow and physician clinic. Assists Manager in Quality assurance, quality control, and staff evaluation.


Develops and maintains an open, honest, and mutually beneficial relationship with the manager and departments to which he/she provides services. Demonstrates skill in working with others and obtaining their cooperation. Demonstrates flexibility with new ideas and improvements; creates ways to implement.


Coordinates supports and provides guidance for the orthopaedic client and guests throughout all phases of orthopaedic care of CCOC. Uses good judgment within scope of practice when giving advice to patients. Advocates and coordinates patient care during and following the CCOC orthopaedic experience.


Provides back-up coverage for staff and manager and assists in daily office routine when needed in other areas. Maintains OSHA and MSDS manuals accurately and current. Communicates policies and procedures. Handles emergency calls when physician is not available, return calls, and documents. Develops, manages and efficiently maintains department budget, including overtime assessment and processing timecards.


All other duties not specifically assigned.


Position Requirements
Education: Graduate of an accredited Athletic Training (ATC), Medical Assistant (MA), Licensed Practice Nursing (LPN), or Radiologic Technology program; or ten years clinical experience in an outpatient clinic setting.

Experience: One (1)+ years of demonstrated leadership and management experience preferred. One (1) year related medical office experience required. Prior experience in medical office, hospital or other healthcare facility. Orthopaedic experience preferred.

Technical Skills: N/A

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: ATC & LPNCurrent license to practice as ATC or LPN in the State of Ohio. Radiologic Technologist Current license through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed in to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Ohio. BLS certification preferred.
