Supv - Shop (Finance)
Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates and performs shipping function. Ensures that products are packaged and labeled appropriately and that customer specific requirements are met. Ensures that the most efficient and cost-effective methods of shipping are used and optimizes use of carriers for which routes, schedules and rates. Ensures that shipping documents including bills of lading, packing lists, dock receipts, air bills, and import and export documents are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures that corrective actions are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Experience: High School education or G.E.D. Additional specialized courses or Associates Degree in related field preferred or internal experience with exposure to materials management and inventory control and some product knowledge.
Directly related, progressive experience with exposure to applying fundamental terms, concepts, practices, and procedures in materials management and inventory transactions.
Lead experience or training with understanding of human relations and training preferred.
Demonstrated ability to research, analyze and recommend efficient and effective solutions to problems.
Training Required: Employee Orientation. Local Policies and Procedures. Leadership / Supervisory Training. Advanced software training in data processing, spreadsheets and word processing, Systems Training (Rental Man, OTS). Keeps abreast of latest trends and technology related to administrative functions. May perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.
Other Required Skills, Knowledge or Abilities: Excellent PC skills with thorough knowledge of MS Office programs, and proficiency with specialized, function-related applications such as AS400 based Rental Man. Ability to train others to use system. Ability to develop spreadsheets and modify formats in order to complete assignments and ability to recommend improvements.
Ability to maintain data integrity and to extract data, perform calculations and prepare reports in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive data. Above average organization and communication skills required to interact with multiple internal, external & managerial contacts. Attention to detail and ability to handle diverse tasks simultaneously. Forklift certification as required by facility. Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
Interpersonal Communications: Frequent contact with less experienced personnel resolving problems, training, coaching. Frequent contact with all levels in the organization to provide and obtain information and to resolve issues. Serves as a liaison between inside sales / customer service and purchasing for inventory issues.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: Shop and yard environment. May be frequently exposed to wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration.

Reporting Relationships
Frequently serves as a lead or provides technical guidance.
Assigns, monitors & reviews accuracy of work, work time is spent performing many of same duties of those in group. Models and teaches compliance with all work practices, policies and procedures.
Works under intermittent supervision: Objectives, priorities and deadlines are defined. Assistance is given with unusual situations that do not have clear objectives.
Plans and carries out successive steps and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with instructions, policies, and accepted practices.
Must adhere to departmental policies, schedules, and deadlines, but may adapt techniques or processes to complete assignment.
Independently resolves problems or deviations by selecting from specific choices defined in instructions work policies, procedures, and accepted practices.
Consistently plans and carries out successive steps of assigned projects using own initiative.
Must be proactive to prevent non-compliances and to act when a challenging situation has the potential for worsening if action is not taken to resolve the problem.
Is expected to review own work for completeness, accuracy and conformance to policy.
Supervisor reviews progress versus detailed check for technical adequacy and conformance with practice and policy. Errors in the communication of data can result in ineffective decision-making by others in the company. Frequently reviews work of others and teaches how to detect and correct errors.
