Name of the position: FWS Social Media Assistant

Location where the student will perform his/her duties: Office of Student Affairs – UCC 2nd Floor / 5 Hours a week guaranteed - some in person and some hours can be remote

Name of the student's supervisor; VP for Student Affairs,  The Office Assistant position reports to the (Vice President for Student Affairs) and is responsible for duties assigned by the Executive Assistan t and/or the Student Affairs Staff. Failure to fulfill required job expectations (essential functions) and qualifications in a satisfactory manner or violations of Department/College Policy will be grounds for termination.  

Purpose or role of the position within the organization: The Office of Student Affairs prepares students holistically through leadership development, co-curricular programming, community engagement, and dialogue around inclusion and diversity.  We strive to create a community of learners that think critically and act responsibly both within the Stevens community and beyond. The Social Media Assistant will support ongoing communications for The Office of Student Affairs. The Social Media Assistant is responsible for creating and updating content on websites and social media platforms.

Duties and responsibilities associated with the position and how they relate to the purpose or role:
-Plan, create and maintain engaging social media content.

-Support the development of social media strategies.

-Update websites with current and accurate information.

-Review and improve website functionality.

-Research existing trends and best practices.

-Assist with the creation of marketing and digital advertising materials.

-Ensure that all content and materials adhere to brand standards.

-Collaborate with staff and faculty to support website and social media initiatives.

-Other duties as assigned.

Rates of pay for the position (cross-referenced to the wage rates appearing in the school's policies and procedures manual):

Minimum Wage ($15.49)

General qualifications for the position and the specific qualifications for the various levels or rates of pay associated with the position:

-Must be an undergraduate student who has received work study.

-Ability to creatively write content to engage an intended audience.

-Ability to meet deadlines and organize time effectively.

-Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy.

-Ability to update websites and social media platforms.

-Ability to use social & digital media to effectively communicate or respond to others.

-Ability to use editing software and a variety of computer applications.

The length of the student's employment (beginning and ending dates): August 2024-June 2025

Terms of Employment 

-Abide by all Departmental and College policies. 

-Work as scheduled and report to work on time. 

-Attend all mandatory staff meetings and/or training. 

-Procedures for determining a student's rate of pay when a position has multiple rates: n/a

-Protect the privacy of students, parents, faculty and staff about whom you have information.  

-Completely refrain from discussing matters pertaining to the office/department with (or in the presence of) non-office persons.  

-Limit access to confidential information to that for which you have work-related needs.
