Technical Writer (Information Technology)

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between complex technical information and user understanding, especially within the context of information technology. In essence, your responsibilities will include creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for technical products, systems, and services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Develop and Maintain Documentation: Create technical specifications, process documentation, and other supporting materials.

·        Research and Information Gathering: Research technical topics and gather information from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), such as engineers and developers, to ensure accuracy and completeness.

·        Translate Complex Information: Simplify complex technical information and jargon, making it accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.

·        Organize and Structure Content: Structure and organize technical content logically for easy reading and comprehension, ensuring clarity and consistency.

·        Edit and Proofread: Review and edit content from other team members to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to style guides.

·        Incorporate Visuals: Create or work with illustrators to include diagrams, screenshots, and other visuals to enhance understanding.

·        Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with engineers, developers, product managers, quality assurance teams, and other stakeholders throughout the documentation process.

·        Gather and Respond to Feedback: Collect user feedback to identify areas for improvement and update documentation accordingly.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

·        Minimum 5 years of technical writing experience.

·        Demonstrated experience developing comprehensive documentation, writing user-friendly content for broad target audiences, and translating complex information into simple, polished, engaging content.

·        Ability to convey complex information accurately and clearly, and to quickly grasp and understand complex technical subject matter.

·        Ability to effectively research, analyze, and synthesize information, while effectively communicating with SMEs and team members.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

·        Experience working with Federal agencies is a plus.

·        Knowledge of Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

EDUCATION:

·        Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience.

CLEARANCE: 

·        Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

·        Remote
