Adtran Inc., seeks Hardware Engineer for Norcross, GA location. Will support design teams for products involving optical technologies used in DWDM systems. He/she would be involved in mechanical part design, documentation, data archiving, component research, qualification, and testing. Development of products include various digital/optical mechanical parts and assemblies related to DWDM amplifiers, ROADM, and digital transmission products/devices. Assist in creating mechanical designs, PCB outline requirements, assemblies, and detail drawings using 3D CAD PTC Creo and archive new and existing data into global database system PTC Windchill PDMLink. Support engineers in lab for testing and qualification of mechanical assemblies for form/fit/function and recommend changes if needed. Support engineers, marketing, and graphic designers with Corel Draw graphical representations of new product views to be used for documentation, renders, and software GUI development, if possible. Develop artwork for silkscreens to be used for manufacturing of mechanical parts and labels by using Corel Draw graphics tool. Assist in 3D part development of models specifically for in-house rapid prototyping. Interact with suppliers and purchasing for orders of mechanical components and custom mechanical parts. Support teams as needed for existing product changes including ECO's and required Creo documentation for Agile database. Support engineers using Agile database manager to develop/change boms that match Creo drawing documentation. Support NPI, New Product Introduction and Test Engineering activities in transferring products to CM Contracts Manufacturing as needed. Assist engineers in thermal analysis verification of designs comparing software analysis results with lab results as needed.
Position requires Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Position also requires 3 years of experience working at the architecture level in any area of Mechanical Engineering Design of system and sub-system or as a company level expert in a significant Mechanical Design technology domain; Heat Transfer design in Electro-Mechanical packaging to efficiently transfer the excess heat out of the sensitive electronic components and to operate the electronic components within the component environmental temperature specifications; Operating 3D printer utilizing understanding of design innovation to create component models on any design tools; engaging in overlay rendering utilized on front plate of products.
