Safe Harbor Rybovich is seeking a skilled and hands-onAlignment Department Team Lead to oversee and execute precision alignment of critical marine systems. This working lead will guide a small team of technicians while serving as the primary operator of precision optical and laser alignment equipment. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to excellence in marine engineering standards. This role may also be referred to as Technician (Mechanic).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform precision optical and laser alignments and evaluations of propulsion systems, shaft bearings, engines, gearboxes, rudders, and other marine components.Operate and maintain alignment instruments and equipment including precision optical telescopes, reticles, targets, etc.Use hull targets, fixtures, and optical scopes to verify and adjust machinery positions.Interpret engineering drawings, alignment specifications, and CAD diagrams to determine alignment requirements.Perform measurements, calculations, extrapolations, and interpretations of vessel and component data/dimensions to facilitate alignment processes.Document alignment data, generate detailed reports, and communicate findings to internal teams and vessel crews as necessary.Collaborate with project development and trade teams on alignment planning for refits, realignments, and repairs.Lead and mentor a team of 23 technicians while remaining actively involved in hands-on alignment work.Support overtime work during peak project periods.Other duties as assigned by Manager.

Technical & Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent or technical school certificate required; Associates Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering preferred.Minimum 5 years of experience in optical or laser alignment of marine or heavy industrial machinery.Proficient in using alignment tools and interpreting engineering documentation.Strong mathematical skills, including proficiency in algebraic and trigonometric computations.Proficiency with use of precision measuring instruments including inside/outside micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges.Familiarity with marine propulsion systems, mechanical principles, and classification society regulations (ABS, Lloyds Register, Bureau Veritas, DNV, etc.)Experience as an Inside Machinist and/or knowledge of machining principles is a plus.Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and communication skills.Willingness to travel domestically as project demands require.Ability to work in confined spacesAbility to lift 50 pounds.Basic boat handling skillsAbility to ascend and descend a ladder.Available to work overtime when required to meet deadlines
