Maintenance Mechanic (Maintenance)



Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery, equipment, and facilities to minimize downtime and ensure optimal production performance. This role supports a safe working environment by following safety procedures and proactively identifying potential hazards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on production machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective repairs on equipment such as pumps, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and foundry machinery.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Assist in the installation of new machinery or equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation of repairs.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, welders, and fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to improve processes and reduce equipment downtime.

Maintenance Mechanic Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a foundry or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and basic electrical repair is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a hot and physically demanding environment.

Maintenance Mechanic Skill Requirements

  • Average to above-average two-hand and eye coordination.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to make logical decisions and know when and where to seek assistance.
  • Ability to pass operator's training courses in various machines and forklift operations.
  • Ability to perform and assist with general housekeeping and cleaning of work areas, department, and plant.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with plant personnel, both orally and in writing.

Maintenance Mechanic Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally exert up to 100 lbs. of force to lift, push, or pull materials, tools, or other objects.
  • Frequently exert up to 20 lbs. of force to lift, push, or pull materials, tools, or other objects.
  • Stand or walk continually.
  • Occasionally sit, squat, kneel, bend, or climb.
  • Occasionally reach outward or above shoulder level.
  • Gross and fine manual dexterity to manipulate tools, parts, adjustments, controls, and computer systems.
  • Vision: Correctable for depth of field, color, near and far.
  • Hearing: Correctable for regular verbal communication.
  • Ability to wear required PPE.
