Accountant I/II (Finance)

The Riverside County Transportation and Land Management Agency (TLMA) has two opportunities for Accountant I/II. These positions are located in Riverside and support either the Aviation or Deposit Base Fees (DBF) sections.

These positions support TLMA departments with proper receipting, accurate funding, refunds, issue research, and timely correspondence on all aspects of Deposit Base Fees (DBF) cases. Responsibilities include reconciling out-of-balance cases, processing journal corrections, handling appeals and labor adjustments, managing daily deposits, receipting, billing, and finalizing DBF cases, as well as assisting with internal and external audits. The role also prepares and assists with annual budgets, financial records, billing rates, reconciliations, fiscal records, fixed asset and vehicle inventories, and equipment/software inventory, while managing and reporting on federal or state grants. Additional duties include fiscal administration functions such as vendor payments, accounts receivable, contract administration, budget tracking, projection costing, fee assessment support, and other tasks as assigned.

In addition to the County's recruiting guidelines, a successful candidate will possess intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, working knowledge of PeopleSoft AP, AR, GL and Project Costing modules, PLUS Online, Mykonos, and great customer service. Experience handling and tracking Deposit Based Fees is highly desired.

The Accountant I is a natural progression underfill for the Accountant II. Incumbents are expected to promote to Accountant II after obtaining one year of experience as an Accountant I, meeting the education requirement and obtaining a satisfactory performance evaluation. Failure to promote to the Accountant II class will result in incumbents being returned to their former County classification or new hires being released prior to the end of their probationary period.
