Architect I, Landscape (Finance)

As an entry level Landscape Architect, you'll be part of a team of professionals within Park Planning & Development that plan, design and oversee the construction of our community's beloved parks and trails. Along with this team, you will be responsible for delivering on the City's vision as outlined in the 2021 ReCreate Parks and Recreation Plan, helping to ensure projects reflect the needs and aspirations of the community.
This role supports the team and contributes to projects from planning to public outreach, to design and development review approval, to construction document production and construction administration. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work closely with several Licensed Landscape Architects on the team. With each project, you will have opportunities to build relationships and collaborate with both internal and external partners.
A degree in Landscape Architecture is required for this position. Experience in the private sector is valued, but not required. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Lumion, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite, and Power BI software are highly beneficial to be successful in this role. Applicants with 1-2 years of experience in the field (or who have graduated and have internship experience in the private sector within the field) will receive high consideration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
Performs work in support of municipal and capital park planning & development projects under the direction of experienced Landscape Architects which may include an essential combination of the following:Works effectively on multiple master planning, landscape architectural and construction projects either performed by City staff and/or design consultants / contractors.Reviews and coordinates review of project plans/designs for compliance with landscape architecture principles, federal, state, county and city regulations.Coordinates with other departments or agencies to facilitate conflict resolution, project implementation and compliance with current standards.Compiles, researches and analyzes reports, drawings and other data to support the master planning, design, construction and/or evaluation of projects or programs.Prepares or reviews reports, specifications, plans, construction documents, construction schedules, geo-technical soils reports, environmental impact studies, budgets, and/or designs for projects.Develops design concepts for projects independently and collaboratively with team members.Prepares graphics and presentation materials for project and community meetings.Prepares technical drawings and specifications for bidding and construction under the direction of experienced Landscape Architects.Assist in calculating costs and determining feasibility for projects based on analysis of collected data.Assists in inspecting sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to construction plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.Serves as a technical information resource for the public, consultants and developers, City boards and departments and City Council regarding specific projects or general landscape architectural questions; may prepare presentations and written materials.Participates in staff and project review meetings, and coordinates with other departments or agencies to facilitate project implementation and compliance.Operates computer software: AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Lumion, GIS, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite.May perform technical writing for policies, plans and grants.May assist in efforts to acquire land and water.May assist in administering or monitoring contracts with consultants and/or contractors working on City projects or project budgets.
