Position Title: Community Outreach Coordinator

Salary Range: $59,410 - $63,582

Job Description:
The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) seeks a Community Outreach Coordinator for the Rackets Bureau's Worker Protection Unit (WPU) and Construction Fraud Task Force. The WPU investigates wage theft, workplace injuries, safety hazards, and fraud targeting workers, particularly vulnerable populations. The Community Outreach Coordinator supports long-term investigations, analyze case materials, and collaborate with community groups and city, state, and federal government partners to build impactful cases and advocate for regulatory reform.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support investigations and prepare cases for grand juries and trials.
  • Attend witness interviews and perform administrative duties.
  • Manage the Wage Theft Task Force Collaboration Initiative.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and agencies.
  • Represent the Unit at public events and community meetings.
  • Develop outreach materials and presentations.
  • Analyze documents and identify trends and support policy legislative recommendations.

In addition to the Minimum Qualification Requirements, candidates must possess the following:
  • Level 1 - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and one (1) year of relevant work preferably in criminal justice or nonprofits.
  • Level 2 - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of relevant work preferably in criminal justice or nonprofits.

Preferred Requirements/Skills:
  • Strong communication skills and passion for community engagement.
  • Professional public interaction and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to work on long term complex investigations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Publisher.
  • Willingness to learn construction and safety terminology.
  • Interest in worker/immigrant rights, construction safety, and accountability
  • Spanish preferred, but not required.

Hours/Shifts:
  • Monday - Friday, from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Flexibility for overtime and evening work (this is not a remote position).

Additional Information:
  • Current office employees: To be eligible for a transfer or promotion, staff must have already served at least 1 year in their current unit/bureau/department and be in good standing. In addition, must meet the minimum and additional qualifications of the position.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to \"1\" above.
