POSITION SUMMARY:
Plans, evaluates and administers Occupational Therapy services and care to patients upon physician referral. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives as well as Health System initiatives. Coordinates family involvement in assessment and treatment of the patient.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Participates in educational programs on an ongoing basis and complete mandatory CEUs as required.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Current license from the State of Illinois or in the process of acquiring licensure. An applicant for employment as an occupational therapist must present acceptable evidence of licensure or authorization to test at the time of employment. An applicant who fails to provide this documentation will not be hired. A new employee will not be allowed to work as a therapist until evidence of licensure eligibility is provided. CPR certification required.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES :
Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. Familiar with relative value, and limitations of equipment. Must be skilled in a broad range of modalities with clear understanding of indications and contradictions for each. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a caring, considerate and concerned manner. Willingness to accept responsibility. Ability to direct technical, assistant staff and students and organize work assignments. Leadership skills essential to the position.
