If you enjoy working with your hands, spending your working day outdoors, and managing one of our most precious resources, consider a career as an Irrigation Water Manager! This position performs skilled work in the management, design, installation, and repair of complex irrigation systems. During the winter season, employees will be available to work snow removal, landscape construction, and Christmas Decor, installation of holiday lighting for both commercial and residential properties.
Duties and responsibilities
Diagnose and troubleshoot irrigation related problems and create workorders to have the repairs completed by technicians
Estimate and propose irrigation upgrades for account managers to sale for our
clients properties
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and completed work orders
Create and manage the invoices for all repair work on your assigned properties
Completion of CLIA (Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor), AND CIT (Certified Irrigation Tech), OR LICT (Landscape Irrigation Certified Technician)
Extensive understanding of electrical components of an irrigation system
Must be proficient in the following specific skills:
o Knowledge of repairing Poly & PVC pipe
o Head repair, replace, adjust (spray, gear, impact)
o Advanced controller programming to include the use of ET, site, soil and
plant requirements to create balanced and efficient irrigation
o Hydraulics
o Valve repair
o Copper soldering
o Backflow Repair (poppet, bonnet)
o Use of multimeters and other troubleshooting tools
o Residential and commercial blowouts
o Repair of irrigation mainlines
o Sensor setup & operation
o 2 wire troubleshooting and repair
Installs and troubleshoots diverse types and models of irrigation controllers,
including electrical troubleshooting of all the system components
Obtain an ASSE Cross Connect Backflow Prevention Certificate
Physical Demands and Workplace Environment
These positions spend most working hours outside in all temperatures and weather conditions
The position requires bending, stooping, reaching, walking and lifting especially when maintaining in-ground irrigation systems
Technicians should be comfortable with and have physical and manual dexterity to operate heavy equipment and use of digging tools (backhoes, dump trucks, front end loaders, small and large trenchers, shovels, augers). Irrigation systems can sometimes be buried underground and must be excavated to be maintained
Technicians should be comfortable working with digging equipment/tools
Exposure to dust, grease, noise and chemical vapors - PPE is provided
Ability to move and/or lift 50 lbs, ask for help for heavier things
Will be required to share on-call emergency duties on nights and weekends
