Safety Supervisor (Biotech)



Position: Safety SupervisorLocation: Miami FL, Houston TX or Chattanooga TN (60% travel)Employment Type: Full-time
Main GoalThe Safety Supervisor leads and supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive safety program--fostering a safe, healthy, and fully compliant work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Development & Implementation

Support and enhance the company-wide safety program in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work processes to identify and mitigate hazards.

Oversee personnel on projects, ensuring strict adherence to company and site-specific safety procedures.

Verify the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety harnesses.

Incident Management & Compliance

Investigate incidents and near misses, document findings, and implement corrective measures.

Perform comprehensive safety assessments in areas such as fall protection, scaffolding, excavation, confined spaces, crane operations, and electrical safety.

Maintain compliance with OSHA, AVETTA, ISO, DOT, and other applicable safety standards.

Ensure all safety equipment and PPE are in proper working condition.

Training & Engagement

Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels.

Develop Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for project activities as specified.

Lead weekly safety meetings and participate in the Safety Committee to address ongoing safety topics.

Promote a positive safety culture by encouraging safe practices, open communication, and employee engagement.

Administration & Continuous Improvement

Maintain accurate safety data, including accident reports, inspection records, and training logs.

Review and address safety violations or unsafe conditions promptly.

Stay informed on changes to safety laws, standards, and industry best practices.

Collaborate daily with operations and project management teams to integrate safety into all business activities.

Qualifications
Education & Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Safety Management, or related field preferred (Associate's degree with relevant experience considered).

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant safety certifications preferred.

Experience

Minimum 3 years in a safety role within logistics, warehousing, or industrial environments.

Skills

Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements.

Expertise in risk assessment, accident investigation, and root cause analysis.

Skilled in safety training delivery and adult learning methodologies.

Proficiency in safety data analysis, reporting, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
