Vice President, California Transportation Practice Executive (Finance)

DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is seeking a seasoned executive to lead and expand our Transportation Practice across the California market. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of transportation infrastructure in one of the nation's most dynamic regions.   • Working with region lead and professionals to develop strategy, lead pursuits, manage projects, mentor, and build partnerships.
  • Grow Michael Baker's transportation presence with a primary focus on Regional Transportation Planning Agencies (i.e., OCTA, TCA, LA Metro, SBCTA, RCTC, VCTC, etc.) in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Ventura, and Kern Counties.
  • Connect and cross-market other fields of services and solutions. Support other subject areas that have existing client relationships and bring to bear those relationships for growth opportunities. Assist in design-build pursuits including strategic pursuit planning, collaborator outreach, proposal development, and project management implementation for project delivery as may be warranted.
  • Drive business development in the highways and freeways sector in collaboration with fellow Michael Baker leadership
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, collaborators, and partners.
  • Collaborate with the Southern California Transportation Leadership Team to identify pursuits, develop strategies, and manage technical resources. Support business development through agency outreach and by cultivating strategic connections with elected officials, industry leaders, and partner firms
  • Become an active participant in local professional organizations such as WTS, APWA, ASCE or ACEC and work towards securing a leadership role on the Board(s) or Committee(s).
  • This is a highly visible position that requires strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, as well as problem-solving abilities.
  • Provide technical direction, manage budgets and schedules, ensure quality control, delegate effectively as Senior Project Manager.
  • Identify challenging business opportunities; boost Michael Baker's local and regional recognition; grow Transportation presence in Southern California.
  • Lead proposal, interview, fee development, and negotiations for various project pursuits.
  • Build relationships with other managers in the firm and with other key managers companywide. Refresh past knowledge and stay apprised of current representative services and projects for Michael Baker in Environmental, GIS, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Structures, Water Resources, Surveying, and Transportation.
  • Recruit and attract individuals to the firm and help build team members' careers.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Transportation Leadership team regarding staff assignments, workshare, mentorship, business pursuits, and quality of project deliverables.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Engineer in the state of California required.
  • 20+ years of Transportation/Public Works design-build and/or design-bid build experience with growing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong track record of coordinating successful project delivery of transportation projects for SBCTA, RCTC, RCTD, OCTA, LA Metro, Caltrans, and local cities/counties.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and the drive to be a leader in the company to grow our transportation practice in the California marketplace.

COMPENSATION

The salary for this position is competitive, with a range of up to $300,000 +/-, commensurate with the candidate's experience and expertise. Leadership-level bonuses may also be awarded at the discretion of the executive leadership team
