Digital Content Developer (Finance)



The Digital Content Developer reports to the Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing and is responsible for all aspects of developing, implementing, and enhancing the USF Libraries' websites. This position coordinates complex projects, applying both technical and communications skills to maximize the value and functionality of Library intranet and internet sites. The primary purpose of this position is the development and presentation of communication content and requires a combination of technical IT knowledge and skill in written and graphic communication. The Webmaster must be able to apply knowledge of web applications to create both static and dynamic web pages and resolve performance issues for multiple departments within the Library. This position will also apply public relations and technical writing skills as required to meet the communication requirements for the Library and the University.Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's in a related field with two years of related experience, or six years of related experience, or a combination of related education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Six or more years full-time experience as a front-end designer-developer
Experience developing on a development/test server and troubleshooting to perfection before live launch
Experience with Gumby and Bootstrap
Experience with or interest in user testing or usability research/evidence-based design
Experience with wireframing, prototyping, and interactive design/development, ideally using Axure
Experience with Instructure Canvas or Springshare LibGuides
Experience with Asana
Experience editing video
Understanding of basic digital marketing principles.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

  • Maintain, improve, upgrade, optimize primary library website, balancing competing priorities such as SEO & meta tags, content editing, responsive layouts, file and image optimization, analytics, A/B and user testing, and overall user experience (UX). This may include customizing WordPress or Drupal themes and/or adoption of the USF.edu content management system.

  • Build, redesign, upgrade, upgrade and expand websites peripheral to the primary library website (lib.usf.edu) as needed, through clean, maintainable code and industry-standard graphic front-end design. These include, but are not limited to, Textbook Affordability Project, Digital Collections, LibGuides.

  • User and stakeholder management and training, including managing access and author/creator permissions utilizing best practices and library policies; working to balance the needs of a range of stakeholders throughout the library, USF, and broader community with the aims of library patrons; and training and support for website users and website content contributors with a strong service ethic. Proactive approach to organization and documentation of assets, processes, and communication.

  • Support promotional activities designed to expand outreach of library collections and programming, as determined by supervisor. This could include graphical asset creation, submitting accurate content for external posting, and tracking the results of these efforts.

  • Skill development - stay on leading edge of standards and proven trends, improve knowledge - code, usability, emerging tools, and cross-train others as needed.
