Clinical Informatics Analyst (Information Technology)

Utilizes clinical knowledge, skills, and experience to coordinate, plan, design, develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate clinical application systems that are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice. Coordinates and facilitates communication between the IT department and end users as required. Maintains strong clinical knowledge of healthcare trends, policy, regulatory and compliance issues, in addition to organizational policies/procedures associated with clinical practice and the legal implications related to Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Participates in the development of and compliance with HIPAA standards to maintain the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of health information.
Responsibilities:
Able to integrate data, information, and knowledge to support patients, nurses and other clinicians in decision making throughout the healthcare organization.Possesses knowledge of the use of information structures, information processes and information technology.Designs, selects, implements, and evaluates information systems, data structures and decision-support mechanisms that support patients and nurses. Works with clinical staff to optimize medical record documentation and the use of the EHR as a communication tool.Employs informatics theories, concepts, methods, and tools to analyze information and information system requirements.Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff, executives, and administrative team.Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
Position Requirements:
Experience with medical software such as Cerner, Meditech, Epic, CPSI or other Electronic Health Records software.Associate degree in Nursing or clinical related (ancillary) field; Bachelor's degree preferred.Minimum of two years of experience in a clinical position (nursing or ancillary) in a health care environment of equivalent size and complexity.Current professional license or clinical certificate required in professional area.One year of experience as clinical analyst working with information systems implementation cycle preferred.EHR conversion experience preferred.Alternate education and experience combinations may be considered.Prior experience in nursing informatics preferred.
