Senior Director, Brand Lead (Finance)



Overview
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the Brand Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing all elements of the US Brand Strategy for a novel hospital antibiotic for the treatment of highly resistant Gram-negative infections. Working with both internal and external partners, as needed, the Brand Lead will be responsible for cross-functional strategic planning and tactical execution and will be ultimately responsible for the overall success of the Brand.The ideal candidate will have the ability to create a superior end-to-end customer experience with a mindset for growth and a "play to win" attitude. The candidate should possess strong leadership qualities that foster innovation, motivation, collaboration, and energy across the organization.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the cross-functional planning and coordination of all aspects of brand including marketing, sales, market access, medical, supply, and forecasting.
  • Work closely with internal leads in each functional area to gain alignment and ensure appropriate resources and execution against plan.
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives including lifecycle management to identify and recommend opportunities for enhancements to gain competitive advantages.
  • Effectively lead and manage a Brand team to achieve defined objectives and metrics.
  • Direct and ensure execution of the Brand strategy by assessing and updating the marketing platform, positioning, core messaging, and activities.
  • Oversee all key aspects of market understanding and promotion including positioning, key messages, KOL interactions and Advisory Boards as well as promotional materials development.
  • Closely monitor competitive activities and develop and implement strategies to proactively overcome competitive threats.
  • Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs in the design and execution of communications activities relating to KOLs, congresses, speaker programs and other external/internal engagement activities.
  • Collaborate closely and communicate transparently with Shionogi HQ functions to optimize US and global product success.
  • Oversee optimal vendor relationships and successfully collaborate with any outside agencies/partner entities necessary to assist with commercialization strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with field functions to foster highly collaborative relationships with field management.
  • Create, track and regularly present performance metrics consistent with scope of responsibilities to senior management.
  • Collaborate closely with the Diagnostics Division in creation and execution of diagnostics strategies to remove barriers and expedite product uptake.
  • Oversee all analytical and financial activities, including forecasting and budgeting activities.
  • When permitted, travel may range from 15-30%; primarily domestic.
  • Lead and manage a brand team to achieve defined objectives and metrics.
Minimum Job Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelors' degree in marketing (or a similarly relevant field); MBA / Advanced Degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum Eight (10) years of progressive and developmental experience in sales and marketing roles in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least (3) years in marketing roles in the recent hospital antibiotics market.
  • Experience leading and managing a team to achieve defined objectives and metrics.
  • Strong scientific understanding of Anti-infectives.
  • Experience should include senior level marketing responsibility (e.g. Product Director) for one or more products and have knowledge and experience of challenges of this marketplace and the competitor environment.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in creating a marketing strategy in line with the business goals combined with a solid understanding of other areas such as market research, strategic planning, forecasting and hospital business models.

Other Requirements
  • Must live a commutable distance to our US Corporate Headquarters in Florham Park, NJ. Office presence required at least 3 days per week.
