Supplier Quality Engineer (Finance)



Who we are:

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation (TGC) is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer who will audit supplier quality management system, evaluate and monitor supplier performance of both quality and on time delivery, and drive supplier quality improvements where needed.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the duties and responsibilities will include the following.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor quality of deliveries and follow up on product defects found that were caused by the supplier in order to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide supplier KPI's for The Gill Corporations' monthly quality objectives, communicate supplier performance to management and manage suppliers with low performance.
  • Attend daily, weekly and monthly business unit, MRB, and department meetings, representing supplier quality and follow up on open issues that fall under the responsibility of the Supplier Quality Department, providing quick and effective solutions.
  • Schedule and perform on-site supplier audits and product assessments for the purpose of assuring continued Supplier conformance to the quality system requirements.
  • Request corrective actions from the supplier when deemed necessary by analyzing the manufacturing system and recommending changes to it to determine whether the system meets quality requirements.
  • Verify on-time and effective completion of corrective actions by the suppliers and provide status reports to management.
  • Perform other Corrective Actions Requests (CAR) as assigned.
  • Oversee the "Dock to Stock" process establishing suppliers and parts to add to the process as well as those to remove based on performance.
  • Perform Supplier FAIR review and buy-off as assigned.
  • Ensure suppliers adhere to all relevant regulatory and other requirements within aerospace industry.
  • Ensure that customer requirements are communicated to suppliers and validate implementation of the requirements.
  • Other essential duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM disciplines.
  • 3+ years of experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably in aerospace or related industry or 3 years of experience in a quality related role in The Gill Corporation.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (AS 9100, ISO 9001) and quality tools (FMEA, Six Sigma, RCCA, other).
  • Familiar with aerospace manufacturing processes and standards, experience in composites, fabricated panels, hardware is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with detail-oriented approach and highly organized.
  • Strong user skills in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn about new processes with very little information provided.
  • Position will require some travel, up to 50% nationally.
  • Lean Six Sigma training (Certification preferred).
