Senior Food Safety & Quality Assurance Specialist (Biotech)

· Lead internal, cGMP, HACCP, customer, and SQF audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
· Serve as subject matter expert in food safety and quality programs and provide onsite leadership in program implementation and maintenance.
· Lead the investigation and resolution of consumer complaints, including trend analysis and reporting.
· Participate in branded and competitive product evaluations to support quality benchmarking and continuous improvement.
· Act as SQF Practitioner or Backup SQF Practitioner, ensuring compliance with GFSI-recognized food safety schemes.
· Support and oversee food safety programs including Environmental Monitoring, Pest Control, Sanitation Verification, and CCP Monitoring.
· Provide guidance and support to onsite laboratory operations and testing of raw materials and finished goods.
· Support new product setups and trials, ensuring food safety and quality requirements are met.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., production, sanitation, maintenance) to drive food safety culture and continuous improvement.
· Maintain accurate and organized records of audits, inspections, and program activities.
· Act as backup for the FSQA Manager as needed.
· Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for the facility including authoring, revising, and reviewing program documentation.
· Assume other duties as assigned by the FSQA Manager to maintain Food Safety and Quality programs across the facility.
· Stay current with food safety regulations and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· Minimum 3 years of experience in food manufacturing or quality assurance.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Demonstrated ability to lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
· In-depth knowledge of HACCP, cGMP, FSMA, and food safety regulatory requirements.
· Effective communication and leadership skills.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
· SQF Practitioner certification or equivalent GFSI-recognized certification.
· PCQI certification or experience fulfilling PCQI responsibilities.
· Experience with audit preparation and execution.
Compensation:
Base Pay Range:
$55,571.00 - $92,618.00Final base pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to; role responsibilities, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and/or internal pay equity. Please keep in mind that we consider internal pay equity and hiring at the maximum of the salary range uncommon.
