Outreach & Marketing Student Assistant (Finance)



Cyber Florida at USF is seeking a creative, media-savvy student assistant to support its Outreach and Marketing team, with a focus on podcast production and marketing Cyber Florida's initiatives via social media and YouTube. The ideal candidate will be a strong storyteller and visual communicator who is comfortable working with audio/video equipment, editing software, and digital marketing tools. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to real-world multimedia projects that raise awareness about cybersecurity across Florida and beyond.

This position plays a vital role in communicating the impact of the Florida Center for Cybersecurity through compelling podcast content, video storytelling, and targeted outreach. You'll help shape how we connect with audiences across the state and beyond.

Schedule:
Flexible based on class schedules. Approximately 15-20 hours per week.Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a current USF student
  • \n
  • Experience producing or editing audio/video content (e.g., podcasts, vlogs, interviews)
  • \n
  • Familiarity with editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, GarageBand, iMovie, or similar tools
  • \n
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • \n
  • Experience creating visuals using tools such as InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, or Illustrator.
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet production deadline
  • \n

Preferred Qualifications:
\n
    \n
  • Pursuing a degree in Mass Communications, Digital Media, Advertising, Marketing, or a related field
  • \n
  • Comfortable using industry-standard podcasting tools like riverside.fm and Simplecast
  • \n
  • Experience managing a podcast or YouTube channel
  • \n
  • Familiarity with SEO for YouTube and podcast platforms
  • \n
  • Interest in cybersecurity, technology, or public-interest communications
  • \n

  • Assist in the editing and production of Cyber Florida's audio and video podcast, including managing recording sessions, editing content, and preparing episodes for distribution on platforms such as YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts
  • \n
  • Plan, create, and schedule marketing content to promote podcast episodes and Cyber Florida initiatives across YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, and other relevant channels
  • \n
  • Develop engaging video content and short-form clips from podcast interviews and outreach events for use on social media and YouTube.
  • \n
  • Assist with creative storytelling through graphic design, including thumbnails, social media graphics, and promotional materials
  • \n
  • Write or assist in writing compelling post captions, headlines, and descriptions for digital content
  • \n
  • Maintain digital assets including raw media files, templates, graphics, and episode metadata
  • \n
  • Collaborate with the outreach team on integrated campaigns and strategic messaging
  • \n
  • Maintain professionalism and collaboration while working with staff, faculty, and external guests
