JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and facilities support across Relay Resources' locations. Reporting to the Facilities & Office Administration Manager, this role helps ensure that building systems, shared spaces, equipment, and fleet assets remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. This is a hands-on role requiring physical work, flexibility, and strong customer service orientation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Facilities Maintenance 60 %
a. Respond to and resolve facility maintenance requests in a timely manner.
b. Perform basic repairs involving carpentry, plumbing, lighting, locks, paint, and furniture.
c. Support minor installations and office modifications.
d. Conduct routine inspections of building interiors, exteriors, and systems.
e. Maintain tools, supplies, and workspaces in good working order.
f. Assist with janitorial or landscaping vendor coordination as needed.
g. Escort contractors and vendors on-site for repairs and inspections.
2. Workplace Support & Safety 30 %
a. Help set up or rearrange spaces for meetings, events, or office moves.
b. Ensure emergency exits, walkways, and accessible paths are maintained.
c. Identify and report safety hazards or facility concerns.
d. Participate in scheduled safety inspections and emergency drills.
e. Issue alarm codes to employees requiring access to Relay owned buildings and maintain
a secure and confidential security system.
f. Ensure building alarms are responded to by appropriate parties and determine what
course of action to take.
g. Manage security contract for Relay Resources main campus and provide adequate
coverage to ensure the safety of employees and Relay property.
3. Other Duties 10 %
a. Complete maintenance logs and documentation accurately.
b. Provide backup support for mail or package delivery coordination as needed.
c. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
7+ years of experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or related field.
Knowledge of basic building systems and repair techniques.
Must meet the requirements of Relay Resources driving policy, including a valid drivers
license and reliable vehicle, safe driving record, and insurance acceptable to Relay
Resources insurance carrier.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, stooping,
and standing for extended periods.
Comfortable using hand tools and light power equipment.
Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and
PowerPoint.
Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities at once while maintaining the big picture.
Strong communication skills including writing, speaking, and listening.
Excellent customer service and organization skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with scheduling software.
High School diploma or GED.
Experience working in a nonprofit, commercial, or public facility.
Familiarity with ADA or EHA compliance standards.
Bilingual or multilingual
Experience working with people with disabilities and / or barriers to employment.

Knowledge of facilities or building maintenance workflows and best practices.
Knowledge and experience with computers and related applications.
Skilled in listening and communicating in writing and interpersonally across all levels of an
organization.
Comfortable working in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
Flexibility to adjust priorities and respond to urgent needs.
Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
SCOPE & ACCOUNTABILITY
Performs duties independently with general supervision.
Responsible for day-to-day maintenance and safety across sites. Able to perform independent decision making within the duties outlined above.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Varied work environments including offices, storage spaces, warehouses, etc.
Indoor/outdoor work as needed.
Using a variety of office equipment and tools, including various trade tools and light power tools.
Moderate noise level with some heavier noise based on worksite and work being completed.
