IT Applications Systems Dev III (Finance)



JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary purpose:

The IT Applications Systems Developer III is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting third-party applications and web-based solutions. This role involves researching, analyzing, and enhancing programming systems through activities such as coding, testing, debugging, and deployment to ensure optimal performance of organizational application systems.

The developer collaborates with end-users to understand existing workflows and clarify application requirements, while also creating user manuals and technical documentation that detail installation procedures, system operations, program logic, and code modifications. The role contributes to moderately complex projects and operates with a blend of independent initiative and teamwork.Minimum requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Management, Information Systems, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years direct work experience in IT or a related discipline may be considered as a substitute for a degree.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
  • Minimum of four (4) years overall IT experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years recent experience focusing on system development, support, implementation and upgrades.
  • Minimum of four (4) years development experience using ASP.NET, Visual Basic .NET and VBScript in the MS Visual Studio .NET architecture.
  • Experience in the full product development life cycle.
  • Established SQL skills in MS SQL and/or Oracle databases.
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and/or Crystal Reports to develop and maintain reports.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Analytical thinker able to utilize functional understanding of the various components of systems in conjunction with technical knowledge to identify effective and efficient problem resolutions.
  • Experience in an application development environment using WinForms, Microsoft.Net or equivalent technology.
  • Experience in effectively communicating business and technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in working on multiple assignments during the same time frame juggling tasks based on relative priorities with supervision commensurate with grade level.
  • Use time effectively and efficiently.
  • Advanced proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Application Developer certification(s) such as MCSD, OCP/M/E, CSD, etc. preferred

Working Conditions:
  • Required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
Supervisory Responsibility:
None.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:

  • MBA or MIS preferred.

    COMPENSATION: $118,000-$125,000

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities focus upon development of various transactional applications, third-party applications, ASP.NET web-based applications, Crystal Reports/Business Objects environments and others as relevant. This includes working with the functional user groups to install, upgrade and troubleshoot these applications.
  • Engaged in the collection and interpretation of functional users' requirements and participation in the identification, technical translation, development and implementation of solutions to meet those needs, primarily as they relate to bolt-on applications, interfaces between the systems, reporting and data collection for various internal and external audit requests.
  • Other duties include working with users and software vendors to address financial application related issues and application upgrade activities.
  • Converts project specifications, using flowcharts and diagrams, into sequence of detailed instructions and logical steps for coding into language able to be processed by computer, applying knowledge of computer programming techniques and computer languages.
  • After hours support is an additional responsibility shared with others in the group.
  • Devise or modify procedures to solve business problems using good information technology techniques, keeping in mind the capacity and limitations of the hardware/software, system response time, and form of desired results.
  • Writes documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
  • Writes manual for users to describe installation and operating procedures.
  • Regularly works under deadlines.
  • Train users to use programs.
  • Oversee installation of hardware and software.
  • Provide technical assistance to program users.
  • Monitor performance of program after implementation.
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.
