1LoD Issues Management Framework Lead (Finance)

Role

Based in the first line of defense with in the Enterprise COO function, we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Issues Management Framework Lead to support the ongoing implementation of the Issue Management Policy and Standard across Northern Trust. This will involve supporting a community of Issue Managers, Issue Owners and Issue Identifiers through the development and ownership of job aids, procedures, GRC system implementation and establishment of communities of practice for ongoing oversight and learning. This individual will become deeply familiar with our Issues Management governing documentation and be responsible for answering questions that arise from partners as Issues are brought through the Issues Management Lifecycle. In addition, this individual will also work closely with senior executives to ensure ongoing escalation of implementation and compliance concerns. The ideal candidate will have a deep risk and compliance background and experience working across the three lines of defense.

Principal Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

  • Take a self-directed leadership role developing, implementing and maintaining a variety of projects (e.g., job aids, procedures, training materials) across the enterprise for Issue Management, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards, incorporating best practices and techniques for Issue identification, analysis, remediation, validation and closure
  • Coordinate with a community of Issue Managers, Issue Identifiers and 2LoD partners, working closely to ensure consistency in implementation of the Policy, Standard, Procedures, Job Aids, and best practices for issue management and resolution
  • Utilize strong consultation, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills to understand complex challenges and articulate actionable plans to drive results, while demonstrating exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate experience in leading and directing deliverables, providing recommendations, and taking initiative on projects or team tasks, while managing multiple priorities effectively and driving outcomes independently.
  • Drive transformation and change across a global organization in line with a defined project timeline, particularly in enhancing processes and controls supporting issue management
  • Analyze trends in issue identification to identify potential systemic risks or control weaknesses, ensuring lessons learned are integrated into future risk management practices
  • Maintain a robust working knowledge of the Issue Management GRC tool to provide guidance and support on usage and ongoing enhancement to support issue management activities across the organization

Skills / Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years in financial services
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated track record in driving transformation and change across a global organization.
  • Extensive experience in issues management and remediation within a financial services context.
  • Experience in risk assessments (e.g., RCSA, Compliance Risk Assessment) to support an understanding of how and when Issues are raised, mitigated and closed
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within and across project teams, functional areas, and business units.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business applications
  • Experience using ServiceNow IRM Module is strongly desired

Salary Range:
$137,400 - 240,400 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
