LVN-Admissions nurse (Administrative)



Department: LVN Admissions Nurse

Reports To: Admissions Supervisor (or relevant supervisor title)

Summary: The LVN Admissions Nurse is responsible for facilitating the resident admission process, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, and maintaining accurate resident records. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and interdepartmental staff, while upholding resident confidentiality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and follow supervisory instructions and established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct resident/guardian/sponsor interviews to gather necessary admission information and obtain required signatures.
  • Assist in the resident admission orientation program, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Process resident admissions, including preparing identification records, in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Manage resident transfers and discharges, ensuring all procedures are followed.
  • Maintain accurate records of available beds and current resident listings, including assigned room numbers.
  • Distribute resident listings to nursing service, management, government agencies, and other personnel as necessary, in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Provide residents with the admission information packet (e.g., resident rights, notice of privacy practices, admissions contract) and review as needed.
  • Obtain signatures from residents/guardians on all required permits, releases, and authorizations.
  • Notify nursing service upon resident arrival to arrange escort to the assigned room.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for administrative duties related to resident admissions.
  • Foster positive working relationships with interdepartmental staff and other facility departments.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of all resident care information, including Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Report any known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of confidential information.
  • Oversee the inventory and deposit of resident valuables or secure a "Release from Responsibility" form, following established policies and procedures.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:
  • Education and/or Experience:
    • Licensed Vocational Nurse with Admissions knowledge/experience
  • Language Skills:
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Mathematical Skills:
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
    • LVN- Licensed Vocational Nurse
    • Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute.
    • Proficiency in using a 10-key calculator.

  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
