Actuarial Associate, North American Actuarial Group (Information Technology)



Job Objectives:

Allied World has a position available in its Actuarial Department.  The actuary will interact throughout Allied World U.S. and will work with other actuaries, underwriters, IT and claims personnel.  The actuary will play an important role in the Professional Lines division of the Actuarial Department and will perform various types of actuarial analyses, rating analyses, profitability reviews and special projects.  Assigned responsibilities will include:

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Provide Actuarial support for product lines as assigned; develop and/or maintain rates, rating factors and rating models.

·         Assist with profitability monitoring through actuarial analyses and price monitoring.

·         Work with others to develop rating specifications for strategic systems.

·         Help prepare rate filings as needed.

·         Promote data completeness and quality, help identify information needs, develop reports and provide actuarial analyses.

·         Assist with evaluating new initiatives and opportunities.

·         Participate in the planning process as needed.

·         Prepare information and provide support for reinsurance renewals.

·         Special projects as assigned.

Compensation:

The below annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market.  The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment.  Base salary represents one component of Allied World's comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.

$70,000 - $75,000

Requirements:

·         Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, computer science or other technical major preferred.

·         Interest in progressing toward Casualty Actuarial Society designation.

·         0-3 years prior Actuarial experience in the industry.

·         Strong technical skills in Excel, Access and Word; familiarity with SAS and SQL.

·         Some knowledge of insurance data coding structures and concepts.

·         Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
